To follow on from Religiosophy: I’ve coined Logicity!
Further deliberations have led me to the determination that the West’s religion(s), and most likely the East’s too, are based in Logic, action-therefore-consequence underpinning all human activity.
Islam, today’s mid-eastern poison, blinkered by Muhammad’s Qur’an, posits “there is this, and there is that” with little or no connection. How, then does creation come about? Why, indeed, is there death? age? decay? Where, indeed, is any progress? Is life nothing but eternal sameness? Certainly the Islamic world is unchanged from 600 A.D. – stagnant. That stagnation has led to Islam’s leeching of Western technologies (accelerated by Eastern co-operative competition and developments) as weapons, continuation of Islam’s hatred/envy and raiding of the Silk Road traders to this day – demanding, extorting! a ‘fair’ share of the wealth of that black stuff below their feet, useless to them until Western discovery.
Earlier ages observed and named, but little else. Persian (pre-Mohammad) Zoroastrian philosophy and science were Islam’s early conquest and destruction, but not before naming most of the stars observable to the naked eye (why do they have such weird names? was one of my early questions: they’re Arabic!) and giving us advanced mathematics, both of which made their way West (by the Mediterranean-trade extension of the Silk Road – the Spice Road). With the concept of zero being not ‘nothing’ but a valid digit, the resulting (Arabic number-symbols again?) decimal system obsoleted the cumbersome Roman numeral system, and al-gebra stretched minds to even greater Calculus, Greece contributed geometry/trigonometry (3-dimensional maths) …
Lately, computer systems are prevalent and, being unambiguous, their logic is yes/no, 2 states hence ‘binary’, with all counting and decisions clear-cut if complex. The West has progressed exponentially in material matters by this (and the East has caught on and contributes). The Mid-east lags and purloins, as it has always, contributing nothing but strife (Islam’s sects can’t even be at peace with each other!).
Christianity has its Laws (thou shalt not). These are merely means of avoiding undesirable results/reactions, a logical development of asking “why does this hurt?” or “why is this misfortune my lot?”.
Buddhist precepts are pretty much the same, but ideals to aspire to rather than laws, and practical means toward those ideals, BUT go further: inverting the point-of-view. Just as Newton later posited “for each action there is an equal and opposite reaction”, so the Buddha said “THIS WORLD OF CAUSE-AND-EFFECT (Samsara) MUST ALSO HAVE AN OPPOSITE” – a logical assumption: Indeed if there were not such an un-made, un-born, ageless, undying, eternal state how then can this existence even BE? I’m still trying to fathom that one out – it goes deep. He *did*, by refining his mind to beyond thought ….

… and, ‘closer-to-home’ and up-to-date, that same logic can beneficially be applied to personal, social, societal and political human interactions (essentially morality and ethics) – merely by considering likely reactions. The number of timeless homilies on the matter are countless:
Don’t bite the hand that feeds you,
Never piss off the fairies – (or TPTB – The Powers That Be)
… and in reasonably-modern comedy, Frankie Howerd’s ‘Up Pompeii’ dog-Latin : “Non crapat suum januum – don’t sit on your own doorstep”.

and the converse:
You catch more flies with honey.

ALL LOGICAL!

Eldest soaring like an eagle!
Our eldest grandson, having had his (undeserved) criminal record purged, and now with a very pleasant girlfriend (and wholeheartedly accepted by her parents), is about to ‘fly the nest’. Girlfriend has moved to Canada, and he’s following, with our blessing.
He has been accepted to work there, and has posted the news on Facebook. Our initial reaction was “Gee, that’s risky!” but then we thought “No, good move!” It’ll be a slap in the face for his selfish vindictive ‘female progenitor’ (I hesitate to call it ‘mother’) and any of her associates, and the family/Gang that threatened him – and the Legal (not-Justice) system here. It’s also an affirmation of our upbringing skills (mostly letting him flourish in his own right with a little guidance) versus the System(CYFS)’s “lock ’em away with all the other (supposed) crims”.
Kia ora, lad, and Kia kaha!

Any respect I had for the UN disappeared on witnessing Saudi, Iran and that fiction “Palestine” at the table. Yecch 🤮! I hope our PM can resist, even reject, the UN’s call for acceptance of immigrants from wherever.
The only Arabic nation I have any respect for (you don’t hear much of it in the News, do you?) is Jordan. I have reasons:
1. Their king Hussein was a very active fellow-Radio Amateur, and so *very* communicative and worldly-wise. (so, indeed, was his Queen Noor). Though having conquered the West Bank (of the River Jordan) he ceded it back to Israel (and look at what the modern Islam of that fiction ‘Palestine’ is doing now). Seems those going there were a good riddance.
2. Hussein’s heir, present King Abdullah, though not a ‘Ham’ himself, is well aware of the benefits of his father’s style of stewardship and has continued that trend. e.g. women in Jordan have far greater freedoms than in other Arab states.
3. Under their reign Jordan has become a stalwart buffer between Israel (and the West) and the ravening hordes of modern Islam. It remains so as much as it can, though those others are bypassing it. Its Hashemite Islam is truer to its pre-Koran roots (though there is supposedly a direct connection to Mohammad)* and so peaceful.
*lending credence to my endorsing the theory that Mohammad was just a popular flowery poet (even if a child-raping misogynist, the ‘norm’ of the time) from Mecca whose works were bastardized by the thugs at Modena intent on pillaging the rich Jewish and Christian traders of the Silk Road.

Being retired (arm retard , that from an Amateur Radio group) and dependent on unaffordable mobility (see why in the main blog), I’m a contributor to the Facebook group Kiwis United Against the Radical Islamification of New Zealand, and though much there is knee-jerk, as it is in general there and the ‘net and media – and indeed life – in general, there are valid points made, including other International political views. I try to put well-considered points where appropriate. I shudder at the prospect of future generations of Kiwis forced into that brutish life, and the nation reduced to desert, or totally depopulated and abandoned for the ‘homely’ desert of neighbouring Aussie, as it typically is by those ravening hordes. I value both my Scots-Euro heritage and the part-Maori of my eldest (step-)grandkids. AND THEY’RE HEADING OUR WAY! Think their purge from Myanmar (Rohingya are Muslim) will stem the tide? Think again – then consider the place they were kicked out of: had they done anything for themselves or their hosts (rent, same as Palestine ) during their occupation? Would any better occur here?
Islam’s ‘saints’ are those who publicly behead infidels. By tradition, that’s by knife – scimitars are too obvious, so tradition arms Muslims with a knife. The old English tradition of public hanging, for terrorists should be re-instituted: just as inexpensive (apart from the venue). I’d follow that with quiet disposal of corpse by abattoir and ‘blood-and-bone’ fertilizer – might do the land some good.
Another tradition, this time from the USA: I hope they retain the right to bear arms. That, together with the current upsurge of Christianity there (and hopefully emphasis on that neglected “as thyself”) just might be the West’s salvation, and if pursed thoroughly even reduce crime!

If you think This is contrary to my earlier ‘Religiosity‘ post, think again: this is historical, factual and political.

(August 23rd 2018):
I’m a Labour supporter, but my local MP is National. The receptionist at his office, however, was receptive, and I’m hoping she’ll get her notes of our meeting to the boss.
En route I stopped at what used to be the WINZ office, noting it’s now MSD. I was hoping I might find a way to wrangle better mobility – I was tottering on my feet at that stage, a few hundred metres at best. What I got was a Jobsworth (Look that up as a noun), reluctant to even let me sit! I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the cloth-eared one that totally destroyed a prominent radio and music-club hostess.
The brief respite there (I did get to sit, but not actually communicate) gave me the endurance to continue, and that proved worthwhile. Now awaiting further dialogue.
Boo! on Ministry of Societal Destruction, Yea! on an open ear at the MP’s office.
(October 11th 2018):
No. Effective secretary, dissembling boss: more brick walls, deaf System.
Several hopeful email exchanges, then: “Sorry, this office cannot assist you any further.” National Party politics, trouncing a matter of National importance? Not even the possibility of political ‘points-scoring’ enticing?
I approached my local MP only because I’m not a constituent to my nearest Labour MP – who can’t/won’t/hasn’t absorb/ed the NON-Party nature of the matter. Do these politicos never THINK? Are Ward divisions that politically impervious, with that much Party animosity?
I have a week away from home, so news will be a while…

With some load lifted from the Ministry with the tail (CYFS/OT) no longer wagging the dog, some consideration could profitably be given to a looming threat: Islam. No, I’m NOT talking religion, I’m talking societal impact. If you really want to drag religion into it, how about working WITH the ‘heart’ of our society – the Christian Churches – to bolster the populace in averting this seemingly-inevitable destruction of the Human race! For more, read “Religiosophy” then come back…

Now how about targeting Islam’s morality: rape of pre-teens and grooming for pregnancy immediately on menstruation, immediate immersal in Mohammed’s long-outdated world-view that denies anything he did not say or do in his lifetime – some 1400 years ago! and its scriptural dogma – a terrorist’s handbook for destruction and conquest by force. No wonder it appeals to the violent in our prisons, and such a pity its flowery poetry traps the unwary, including some celebrities (Cat Stevens, Cassius Clay …) and the disaffected, that largely due to political inertia and blinkered bureaucracy.

I’m a (step-)Granddad, and I value my mokopuna’s (part-)Maori heritage and my own Anglo-Euro ancestry equally. They both are under threat, and I’d hate to see our nation’s coming generations forced into that culture.

In the words of Cheech and Chong’s Sister Mary Elephant: “Class … claaaass … WAAAAAKE UUUP!”

My take on Religion:
Firstly, I’ve abandoned it [well, Theistic anyway]. I’m intensely grateful for having grown up in a society that not only tolerates this despite its majority-Christianity, but also encourages inquiry and use of logic. I pursued a path of Science and Electro-Electronic-Radio and eventually Computing Technology – a field demanding accuracy and a thorough knowledge of what one is dealing with (and drastic consequences otherwise) and thus development of an innate sense of Right and Wrong (and Caution between).
This, folks, is merely a logical result of childhood asking of “Why”? and absorbing answers that made sense, the companion “because”.
Then, having felt a dissatisfaction with the various Protestant faiths I encountered in my late-teens / early-20’s, I was invited to a Buddhist meeting, and the philosophy expounded there made sense!
This was the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order, and the Ven. (Later Maha Sthavira) Sangharakshita, and his published works and recorded ‘lectures’ explained much that no-one else could. I felt ‘at home’, and with the logical extension of ‘why/because’ to “why not?” joined the lay Sangha (in Christchurch – ironic, that), a flat of around 8 or so fellow-followers.
Through this I encountered several variations of Buddhism – Tibetan, Sri Lankan, Japanese (Zen) … and though they varied in expression their underlying philosophical ‘thread’ was consistent: self-betterment to beyond thought.
After some years there, the flat was to be sold, so we all parted ways. I vowed I’d be one of those enumerated in the precepts as the ‘advanced beings’, and continue to this day following that path to the best of my ability. Subsequent consideration led me to equate the (10 lay) precepts with Christ’s 10 commandments, just expressed differently.
So, folks, my life has continued in thelogical development of “why/because”: “Why not?” – the more mature exploration of the world underlying (and with beneficial outcomes motivating) all human endeavour – and the West’s progress – and the Islamic world’s lack of, thus its childish envy and grasping greed!

Much later, with the uprising of Islam occupying the News, my imagination took me back to those days.
Imagine with me:
Camel train days, the Silk Road. Jesus of Nazareth, maturing, goes on his ‘O.E.’ Son of a carpenter, his skills with wood would be of value to the Traders – repairing and customizing the camels’ and donkeys’ pack-frames, repairing tent-poles etc… Well, he’d been visited by ‘Wise Men of the East’ (now estimated to be Zoroastrians, the Astronomer/Astrologer/Scientists of Persia) – what more might be discoverable Eastwards?
On his way he encounters Buddhist lands – stable societies (for at least 500 years) contrasting with the turbulence ‘back home’ with Roman rule etc… and he investigates the teaching, finding these precepts. Now, how could I get these into my home folks’ heads and hearts? I’d need to teach in parables – tales tall and true – people love to hear them. I know many in my own family and others of my acquaintance that fit the mould as subjects. WHY NOT?
He arrives home, relates his adventures – and findings. Followers – and some dedicated disciples, who recognize him as ‘The Christ (anointed) Child’ – gather, the following grows, but things have gotten worse – the money-men are using the temples as premises for trade, selling ‘virtue’. That’s really too much – if I can oust them and expose their usury … the money trade itself is not too bad, but NOT THAT OR THERE!
His following keeps growing – he’s probably embarrassed by the attention and would rather not, but the message seems to be getting through…then some ‘officious official’ complains, having heard a rumor of a “king of the Jews” …
we all know the story.

The camel trains continue (silks and spices, rich stuff!), with increasing protest and banditry – even socially acceptable and sanctioned occupation as raiders for those in the Arab lands – after all, they cross our lands, they should pay a toll … Of course the Traders (mostly the money-canny Jews) defend their wares, and themselves! …
Into this mix comes Mohammad – a flowery poet adored by his followers in Mecca. He’s enticed to Medina for a greater audience, and a group of thugs engineer his works – more adoring fans – then the bite, the hate/maim/kill of anything not-written (Mohammad’s / the thugs’ words) … the label Islam, with the pre-existing ‘god’ Allah as focus, explaining all unknowns, and forbidding all human endeavour other than procreation, conquest and submission … morality enforced that overpopulates for the resources … geo-political expansion by conquest – thuggery maximised … and here we are …

So, Christ managed to instil in his followers a life-affirming GOD – to the extent that later Greco-Roman philosphers, having exposed the ‘pagan’ elemental gods as just personifications of unknowns, found that Christianity’s One God was an acceptable ‘sop’ for the multitude who, less-educated, still needed gods to explain unknowns. (Even now it’s common to invoke God or Christ as a source of strength or wisdom to deal with an unknown situation: “God alone knows”… It’s no longer really a ‘profanity’. If/when frustrated I invoke “gods” – plural, any you care to name – but then I continue, hopefully towards a better outcome).
One major weakness exposed in modern times in Christ’s teachings: along with “love thy neighbor as thyself” there was no following “and love thyself, and life itself, enough to defend vigorously against those of destructive and death-dealing nature who would deprive you (collectively) of that”.
Yes, you catch more flies with honey, but they’re still flies polluting your honey. The West’s riches still attract the plundering hordes.
My take on this: just as honey attracts and traps flies, killing them, just so should the West be that honey. The attraction of the West’s riches should be a fatal attraction (either to Muslims individually, their ‘faith’ or to Islam itself), and only by being a bee and contributing (as I aspire to with this blog) can you partake.

Fat-cat CYFS/OT/Gov’t as a whole), apologies to The Beatles, You really don’t know how prophetic you are!:

“Let me take you down, ’cause you’re living in
Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real:
That’s something to get hung-up on!
Strawberry Fields forever!

Living is easy with eyes closed,
Misunderstanding all you see.
I think “Er no, I mean er, yes, but it’s all wrong.
That is, I think I disagree”
—
Hence my earlier post: Wrong Job.
I look at NZ (and most Western) Society today and:
—
I think “Er no, I mean er, yes, but it’s alright,
That is, I think it’s not too bad”
—
…Yet.
But we could and should be doing a helluva lot better.
